Dr Karen Konarski-Hart was born in Detroit Michigan. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 1975. She moved to Little Rock and established her private practice in 1979 immediately after receiving her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from National College of Chiropractic located in Lombard, Illinois.
Dr Konarski-Hart has earned a Diplomate in Chiropractic Orthopedics and Pain Management and a certification in acupuncture. She holds a Masters degree in Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, is a licensed EMT and is a nationally certified medical examiner for commercial vehicle operators. Appointed by 2 governors to the Arkansas State Board of Health, she served as the first chiropractic physician to be elected president of that Board. She has also served as president of the Arkansas Chiropractic Association, as state delegate to the American Chiropractic Association and has recently been elected as the first Arkansan and first woman vice president of the American Chiropractic Association. Among her many awards she was named a Fellow of the International College of Chiropractors, Delegate of the Year for the ACA and ACA's Humanitarian of the Year
As an EMT Dr Konarski-Hart is a member of the AR 1 Disaster Medical Assistance Team and leader of the Pulaski County Medical Reserve Corps. She teaches CPR/AED as an American Heart Association instructor and disaster and emergency response for the National Chiropractic Mutual Insurance Company, the largest malpractice provider for her profession. Educational sessions are available for professionals or laypersons, individuals or groups. Her specialty focus is working with caregivers to ensure proper preparation for potential personal or community emergencies. As of May 21 2014, commercial motor vehicle operators must pass a medical exam administered by a certified examiner. With her certification, as per the Department of Transportation, Dr Konarski-Hart can accommodate those needs either individually in-office or at a work site in a group setting. Her certification also extends to sampling hair or urine for controlled substance evaluation.
Dr Konarski-Hart is also very active in community events. Among other activities, she is past president of the Hillcrest Merchants Association, secretary of the Hillcrest Residents Association and an active member of BNI mid-America. Beyond these duties, she has written for a number of professional and lay publications and has done health lectures and presentations for professional and community organizations.
